"Haunting” and “Beautiful” Song Available Now as Free Download
SEATTLE, WA (September 18, 2014) – As lead singer Ty Willman makes his way to the UK’s Gospel Oak Studio to meet his bandmates in The Little Ships, Mike McNamara, Barry Bayliss, and Dave Stewart, for the first time, the band celebrates by making their first single, Shiver, available as a free download from their Bandcamp page.
Some of Seattle’s music community already chimed-in on “Shiver”:
“A beautiful song.” – Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam/Brad)
"Little Ships is a great new band. Ty Willman is one of my favorite singers, whether I’m working with him or just listening. I’m really excited for this band and look forward to anything they put out.” – Dave Krusen (Pearl Jam/Novatone/Nine50Nine)
"A really lovely and haunting song. Ty's voice is in top-form." – Barrett Jones (Producer/Engineer, Nirvana/Foo Fighters)
The Little Ships features vocalist Ty Willman, a mainstay in the Seattle music scene, having fronted local legends Green Apple Quickstep, as well as contributing to Stone Gossard’s (Pearl Jam) solo debut album, and more recently with Nine50Nine. Guitarist Baz Bayliss is the manager and audio engineer of Gospel Oak Studio, has supported The Cranberries, and has recorded albums for New Killer Shoes and Merrymouth, among others. Drummer David Stewart has previously worked with KT Tunstall, Simple Minds, Deacon Blue, Paul Buchanan (The Blue Nile), Fish (Marillion), Camel, and Sandi Thom. Mike McNamara on bass binds these elements together, a seasoned tour manager and multi-instrumentalist who has performed and recorded art-rock from New York, through traditional English folk music.
What started as a weekly jam session in a rural studio in the English countryside in February 2014 soon became a serious musical project. Armed with a number of instrumental demos, the fledgling band reached out across the Atlantic for a unique voice, one they found in Ty Willman. As the project flourished, more songs quickly emerged, making their collaborative Atlantic crossings, and the group was officially named The Little Ships.
